The Sheraton is located right at the base of the Santa Monica Mountains in the heart of Agoura Hills. The hotel recently received some extensive renovation and I had the pleasure of staying there a few months ago. First off, thebeds are very comfortable — although my mother-in-law found it difficult to get into the beds because they are very high. I found that paying a little extra for the club room access (free water, soda, coffee, snacks and breakfast) was definitely worth it, while others didn’t feel the same way. The restaurant is delicious, although we dined there later in the evening and the place was deserted. Overall it was nice to get away for a night and I would recommend this hotels to travelers spending a few days in our city. One caveat… the pool desperately needs to be updated. It is not an inviting feature, especially on a hot July afternoon.

I have not personally stayed in the all stuido/suite hotel, but my in-laws have taken an extended stay here. All the studios or suites have a kitchen — I’m talking full-size refrigerator, stove and microwave, along with a nice table to eat your gourmet meals. The hotel also features a complimentary breakfast. The only downside for me is that none of the rooms have patios or balconies. I do not like to stay in rooms without any outdoor space. That said, the pool is nice, if you want to take a dip. The proximity to our local cities (Agoura, Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Malibu) is terrific. And you just have to talk across the parking lot to do some shopping at Trader Joe’s or pick up a delicious salad at the local owned eatery, Jinkies. My in-laws will be back.

I have not stayed at this hotel, but I imagine it caters to the buisness traveler. Be warned that it is on the freeway side of Agoura Road, but I’m sure this newer hotel is well insulated from the noise. As I have not stayed here, I’ll include a little blurb from the Web site:
Make yourself at home in one of our 93 guest rooms and suites featuring king- or queen-sized beds. Select a suite to enjoy a separate seating area with a sofa bed, wet bar or an in-room whirlpool. Connect to free wired and wireless high-speed internet. Amenities such as a mini-refrigerator, microwave and 37-inch LCD TV with premium cable will help you feel at home. Start your day with a workout in our fitness center, refresh in the pool or join us for Hampton’s free hot breakfast.

I have not stayed at this hotel (although I would love to do so!) but I have enjoyed some delicious appetizers and drinks in their lovely dining room and bar. You have to visit. Just stop in for a cup of tea or a glass of wine. My kids are in love with their hot chocolate and homemade whipped cream. If you have the means, I highly suggest you stay the night. Then drop me a note to tell me all about it.

This hotel has a special place in my heart. I have been staying at this hotel for more than 15 years. The love affair started when I stayed the night in a mini-suite for my big sister's wedding. I fell in love with the charming, cozy nature of The Westlake Village Inn. I have since attended many weddings here and my husband and I try to escape for a mini-vacay once a year. I love walking around the beautiful grounds and smelling whatever gorgeous flowers are in bloom at the moment. One of my favorite features... the recording of bullfrogs that goes on in the evening. It took us the longest time to figure out that these weren't real frogs. I can't speak to the food, as we usually take a nice walk down to the Westlake Landing for Sushi, but I hear the restaurant is good. If you are looking for golf, just walk a few feet and you can play on a nice public course.

The Hyatt Westlake Village is another local hotel that I have had the opportunity to visit. See... our city is so wonderful that I want to take my vacations here! I have only stayed here twice and both times the hotel room was adequate. The pool and hot tub are very nice, and the Sunday brunch used to be delicious. However, when my sister and I stopped in for a drink a few months ago, the restaurant was undergoing renovations. The new Harvest Kitchen & Bar is slated to open later this month.
